A GAPING hole on a walkway in busy Jalan Syed Hussein in Kuala Terengganu is a hazard to pedestrians and gives a bad image to the city.

Abang Im, a resident, said the hole posed a danger to pedestrians. He said there were many people in the area as the walkway was in front of the Kuala Terengganu City Council bus terminal.

He said he suspected that the walkway had been damaged by drivers who parked their vehicles on it, thus causing a crack in it.

“Pedestrians might not notice the hole at night. People, especially women in high heels, may step into the hole and injure themselves.”

Abang Im highlighted the problem of rubbish being dumped in Jalan Syed Hussein, which is near the council’s headquarters at Menara Permint. He said this tarnished the image of the city, especially when the state was holding its Visit Beautiful Terengganu 2017 campaign.

Kuala Terengganu City Council Mayor Mohd Zulkifli Abu Bakar advised the public to alert the council via the E-Aduan system.

“This system has been created for the convenience of the public and for the council to take action quickly.

“People can inform the council about issues and we can take action.”

Zulkifli thanked the complainant and said he would instruct his officers to check the walkway and rubbish site.

He advised the public to not litter in public places and instead use garbage bins.
