PETALING JAYA: Residents of Section 5 here have requested for the removal of a Community Recycle for Charity (CRC) bin in Jalan SS5/2.

Ariff Khalid, who lives nearby, claimed the CRC bin, which was used to collect second-hand items for charity, had now been turned into a rubbish dump.

“The bin was set up there for the convenience of residents to donate items to charity.

“However, some irresponsible people have treated it as a perfect place to throw rubbish.”

Ariff said residents had urged the local authority to remove the bin.

“Instead of helping to create awareness, the area has become an eyesore. The rubbish has also attracted scavenger animals.

“The organisation, which owns the bin, will clear the area from time to time, but it doesn’t stop people from dumping rubbish there.”

ACTIONLINE:

Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) has instructed that the bin be removed from the area.

“The Solid Waste and Public Cleanliness Department will clean up the area.

“We have instructed the CRC management to remove the bin immediately,” said an MBPJ spokesman.

He added that the public could lodge complaints at www.facebook.com/mbpjaduan or call the council hotline at 09-7954 2020.
