KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has been told to come clean and break off its relationship once and for all with PKR.

Pokok Sena Member of Parliament, Datuk Mahfuz Omar said it is unbecoming for the Islamic party to terminate its political cooperation with PKR, while at same time continue to cling on to government appointed posts in Selangor.

“As an ordinary member in the party, I am of the view, that there is a need for Pas leadership to preserve the integrity and dignity of the party, so that its not topsy-turvy in the decision it adopted, which is to cut ties with PKR,” he said in statement tonight

He adds that it does not make sense that after Pas terminates its ties with Dap and PKR, but at the same time wants to remain in a government led by PKR which was labeled as going against the Islamic agenda championed by Pas.

Mahfuz said when it comes in deciding on the status of the three exco posts held by Pas in the Selangor administration, Pas should not fall back on the need for a approval or directive from Selangor Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He also said that Pas should also not base their decision on whether the Sultan of Selangor consents to such a move or not.

“There is no other choice for Pas, apart from stepping down from all positions in the state government including the exco positions.

“To step down from the posts, they do not need the approval of Azmin or the nod of the Sultan,” he said.

Mahfuz cited the resignation of Johor exco, Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi, which did not require the consent of the state ruler beforehand.

“He left the position to safeguard the image of Umno and till now the vacancy has not been filled by the Johor Mentri Besar,” he said.

The dissolution of the ties between the two former allies, led to calls for the three Pas excos in the Selangor administration to quit.

Meanwhile, PKR ordered its members who are political appointees in the Kelantan government to resign from their posts.

Pas however refused to reciprocate, and made a decision to maintain its excos in the Selangor line-up.
